Who are those guys, anyway?

In the winter of 1998, a sound engineer by the name of Jim Stephens found a pile of Edison Diamond Discs at the flea market and thought it would be fun to restore them. Guess what? It WAS fun. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Since it's humble beginnings in half a freezing garage, Deep Sky Audio has grown into one of the oldest and most trusted names in audio transfer and restoration work, with clients all over the world. In 2003, Jim was joined by Dave Morris, another life-long "audio nut". Both retired musicians, Jim designed and built loudspeakers and worked in pro sound and broadcast engineering, and Dave operated a high-end stereo store, bringing two more "golden ears" to the company along with an equally deep passion for music and sound.

We're not just another "whatever-to-CD.com". Our business is also our hobby, so when we're not working with sound recordings, we're playing with sound recordings. We're always inventing and building new equipment, exploring new methods, finding ways to better preserve our recorded heritage. While we are businessmen here at Deep Sky, we are first and foremost audiophiles and tinkerers. And that's who we are.
